1) Take a checklist sheet from the file folders in front of the marker board in the Control Room and fill out according to the instructions in the Room Checklist page.
2) Setup Wirecast, start from your desktop
On a Mac, click on Go, Connect to Server, and choose vnc:marston204-encoder-mini.engineering.iastate.edu.
On a PC, Open Windows Menu, click on Run and search for vnc:marston204-encoder-mini.engineering.iastate.edu.
Once the Mini Encoder is open
Open Wirecast, Go to Broadcast, Broadcast Settings, Browse* and Annotations**.
Browse* > Desktop > Summer 2012 > find your class > click on a previous recording and change the lecture number > Save
Annotations, type under tittle: CE 594L Lecture 01: 05-14-12
Click Save
Click on the Record icon to start on the Wirecast, a blue arrow should appear and audio levels should be registerd
Note: Mini Encoder is used only to record Wirecast.
3) On the Instructor PC
Open VNC Shortcut folder from your desktop, not the Mini Encoder
Open Marston204-instr.vnc
Password: *use the encoders/general password to access: Usernames-Passwords page in the ELO Training Wikispaces. Else, this password will be given to you or you may ask for it.
You are now viewing the Instructor PC for Marston 204

Make sure you have your correct class on the connect page, otherwise you could search in in shared meetings, ELO, and look up your class
Start Microphone
Click on Connect my audio (microphone symbol)
Click: allow
Start Webcam
Click on Webcam symbol on top
On the left click on Start Sharing
Share Desktop
Click on Share my screen in the middle
select Desktop, and click OK.
Open Desktop Presenter and Minimize
Minimize VNC so that it does not interrupt the lecturer's presentation
Monitor the lecture through Wirecast, make sure you have the correct view on the right screen, switch views on the thumbnail listing, by pressing on the view and click on Go, try to have the view be the Powerpoint, or the instructor's PC as the main view, and the lecturer's view as the smaller view
**On Adjusting the Instructor Camera, for both Marston 204 and 205. There is a small black touchpad next to the instructor PC within the classroom. Touch the screen to turn it on. Once on, select the camera option to adjust the instructor camera.
After the Lecture
1. Stop Primary Wirecast
Click on Record (the blue arrow should disappear)
2. Go to Instructor PC (VNC)
Stop Adobe Connect
Click on the red dot at the top right
Click on End Meeting
Stop Panopto Recording
Click on Stop
In the case that the wirecast recording failed, instructions on how to post a Panopto video are detailed in the Panopto page in the ELO Training Wikispaces.
Save Notes
Click File -> Save -> Desktop -> Spring 2012 -> CE594L -> Lecture Notes -> CE594L_L01_05_14_12.notebook -> Save
Click on File -> Export -> PDF -> Desktop -> Summer 2012 -> CE594L -> Lecture Notes -> PDF -> CE594L_L01_05_14_12.pdf -> Save
Select your recording -> click on Make Public -> Edit -> Click on the recording title: CE 594L Lecture 01: 05-14-12 -> Edit Recording (A window will open with the recording) -> Select the part you want to cut with the arrows and click on Cut ->Save -> Exit the page. Edit the beginning, exit and then edit the ending by clicking on Edit Recording again.
On another tab, open the Class Blackboard
Click on Adobe Connect Recordings -> Build Content -> Web Link
On the title write: CE 594L Lecture 01: 05-14-12
On the URL, Copy+Paste the weblink that is given in the Adobe Connect Recording from before.
Publish
Post Wirecast Video
On a MAC desktop open Encoder Files folder -> Go into your class CE594L -> Pull up .MOV File -> Click on File -> Export -> Desktop -> on the bottom choose As Apple TV -> Edit the video by pressing "i" whenever you want the lecture to start and "o" for the ending -> Click on Edit -> Trim to Selection -> Save -> Export to eocs1 -> firma -> CE594L -> on the bottom chose as .MOV File
Check the videos on Blackboard
Log in to Blackboard -> Choose the class CE594L -> on Adobe Connect Recordings check that the correct edited lecture video opens, on Lecture Videos and Annotated Notes check that the correct edited lecture video opens and so do the notes.
